FIRE RATING CLASSES
In line with the PN-EN 13501 standard, “Fire classification of construction products and building elements”, the following classifications are distinguished:
E: INTEGRITY
Integrity, which is denoted with the letter ‘E’, is the capability of a construction element functioning as a dividing component to withstand the action of fire on one side only, preventing the fire from spreading to the fire-free side via the passage of flames or hot gases.
E
EW: INTEGRITY AND RADIATION REDUCTION
Radiation reduction, indicated with the letter ‘W’, is the capability of a construction element to withstand the action of fire on one side only, in order to reduce the likelihood of the fire spreading to adjacent materials as a result of significant heat radiation from the element or the unexposed surface.
EW
EI: INTEGRITY AND INSULATION
Insulation, represented by the letter ‘I’, is the capability of a construction element to withstand the action of fire on one side only, without the fire spreading as a result of significant heat transmission from the hot side to the unexposed side. During a fire, the structure on the unexposed side should reach a temperature no higher than +140° to +180°.
